Cash for your old phone! Is it really worth it?

So you saw the ad where the bald guy and blonde girl search around their flat for their old phones, find one and get €150 for it. All this done while smiling like eejits. Eejit being the keyword here. Have you seen the prices they offer for your phone? Its a rip off! Lets say you have an iPhone 3g S 8GB, its working perfectly and there isn't even a scratch on it. Envirofone.ie offers you €230.12 for it (ooh an extra 12c!), so you think "sweet that brings me so much closer to buying the iPhone 4!" (or whatever you want it for) and yes, it does, but not as much as you could get for it. On Vodafone.ie the same phone retails for €459 on pay as you go. That's basically 100% higher! And yes I know its more like 99.something, get a life.  Some difference eh? Now your not going to get €459 for your iPhone, but put it on adverts.ie or in your local trader or buy and sell, and you should get somewhere between €50-€100 more than what Envirofone offers. If you get less then your probably not a good haggler.

So before you go sending your phone off to one of these rip off companies, try sell it yourself!

And those two eejits who are always smiling in the ad are definitely drug addicts! Who else would take €150 for a phone obviously worth more? Not to mention the constant smiling. Next it will be their gold jewelry, their car, then prostitution...

Moral of the story, don't do drugs (you can't handle) and don't sell your stuff for less than its worth.

P.S. My current phone is worth just  €4.60... I paid €50 for it. No thanks Envirofone, I'll keep it as a spare when I upgrade.
